About the run:
The What Would Trevor Do Run N' Roll 5K was created to help raise money for one of our very close friends, Trevor Comeau, in an attempt to assist with uninsured medical expenses associated with his catastrophic injury. On Friday May 28th, 2010, Trevor was involved in a serious accident while on vacation in Jamaica with his girlfriend Jenn. Trevor suffered a traumatic head and neck injury while out in the ocean, resulting in a near drowning. (We would later learn than Trevor would also be facing life as a quadriplegic). Trevor was initially treated in Jamaica briefly and then transported to southern Florida. After nearly a month of treatment in Florida, Trevor made the move to Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation in Northern New Jersey, one of the nation's leading rehabilitation facilities. Here, Trevor worked with an aggressive team of specialists and continued to fight each day, showing both increased determination, as well as improvements in his condition as time passed.
After a year of traditional therapy, Trevor and his girlfriend, Jenn, made the move to Southern California to take on a new type of therapy, an intense, activity-based recovery program at Project Walk. The gains Trevor made in his 8 months out there were truly unbelievable. As he continued to meet milestone after milestone, the whole idea of being confined to a wheelchair was becoming less of a reality and more of just a bump in the road.
In order to continue his therapy at Strides SCI, REACT SCI Recovery and help pay for uninsured medical equipment, we are putting together this run for Trevor in order to help fundraise. The entry fees for the run will be used only to pay or reimburse medically-related expenses. With the help of HelpHopeLive all entry fees paid by runners will be tax deductable!
